End of first summer riding camp today!

0

It is 7 am, the sun is just popping up over the dam, the sprinklers (fed from the nice full lake) have just come on in the first pasture, and everyone is getting ready for the cookout and mini-show for the first week long summer camp.

At noon the parents will show up for a cowboy cookout, and the campers will have their horses looking spiffy with ribbons and saddles ready to go. Then after lunch we’ll watch them show off all they have learned during the week. The parents are always amazed how well the kids ride horses after just on week of camp.

More Riding Camps To Come!

We’ll be doing camps every other week this summer. Shelly is already tired and it isn’t even hot yet! The June 15th camp is full and the July camps are full or almost there.

If you want to attend a camp this summer, the only available spots are for the Friday Fun Camps. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you!) (Shhh. Here’s a secret -I think Shelly might add a camp in August… we’ll know soon.)

Did you see the work we have been doing?

You might have noticed that we have been clearing the last of the pastures below the dam. In the last few weeks we took out a bunch of dying trees and leveled the ground – almost finishing up what we began over 6 years ago when most of the pasture we now have was all beaver controlled swamp!

You can see slide shows of those days by clicking on the albums on the right of the page. (We didn’t have video cameras then!)

Here is a video of what we did.

Cowboy Cookout Update

A few weeks ago we floated the idea of a country cowboy evening at the farm with music , outdoor cookout, kids games, and more. There was not an overwhelming response so we are putting that on hold for now.

Comings and Goings

There have been quite a few comings and goings in the barn lately, but since this post is so long we will leave that to the next post!

Hope your summer is off to a great start!

We’ll see you on the farm!
