Spring Break Fun at High Country Stables!
April 8th to 12th

Camp Fun!

Monday –Lesson day – I’m not scheduling regular lesson the week of Spring Break so if you would like to do a lesson Monday is the day!! Just let me know.

Tuesday – Trail Ride Tuesday – $45.00 a person. We will spend time in the ring learning to maneuver obstacles – some scary some fun – and then go out on the trail. We are setting up two times 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 3:00. Limit 6 riders per am and pm rides.

Wednesday – Barrel Racing Wednesday – $60.00 – a person 9:00 to 3:00. We will work on barrel patterns and have a mini running show. Bring a sack lunch! Limit 8 Riders.

Thursday – Gymkhana – 1:00 to 4:00 – $45.00 a person. Games on horseback! Egg on Spoon, relay, musical stalls, boot relay, ribbon race and tons more!! Limit 12 Riders.

To register for camps use the payment box to the right of this page and choose the trail ride/fun day for $45.  Please note the camp you want to attend in the text box when you pay. Barrel racers bring the additional $15 on Wednesday.

Looking for a fun activity to do with the kids on Saturday August 18th? Come on out to High Country Stables! 5508 Dallas Acworth Highway. 11 am – 3pm. $5 dollars a person includes Pony Rides, Face Painting, Horseshoe Scavernger Hunt, Live Music and riding demonstrations from our State Riders! We will be serving lunch plates in the conference room and have a photographer on hand taking pictures of the kids with the best horse in town – the one and only Midnight! All proceeds help the High Country Stables Riders who are competing at the state show in Perry, GA Labor Day Weekend.

Don’t miss all the fun April 21st – 11:00 to 3:00 with pony rides, face painting, music, games, food, riding exhibitions and our very own Drill Team. Drill Team will perform at 12:00 and 3:00. Riding demos will go on throughout the day in the lower ring. $5.00 at the door but bring extra money for a cowboy cookout, bake sale and drinks. Meet the 2011 North West Georgia Horsemanship’s Queen. Ride the 2011 Country Pleasure Racking State Champion – Midnight! Visit with Tater Tot, our new baby chicks and Littleman. Tell all your friends and neighbors! Proceeds go to the NWGHA and RIFNA riders to help fund their events.

High Country Stables is now offering Game Night the first Friday night of the month. Weather permitting, they will be playing Ultimate Frisbee, Capture the Flag, Freeze Tag, etc. My older son is in charge of setting up the games and ordering the pizza(the most important part). Our next Game Night is Friday February 3rd – 5:00 until 9:00 – Bring $5.00, wear old clothes and your fastest running shoes. If you have further questions you can email Ian at ian_phillips@bellsouth.net. Any and all are invited!

Dallas is a 9 year old mare, trained at Hancock Farms in reining. She also loves to jump!



Dallas is awesome and we look forward to adding her to our lesson program!

We have finalized our summer programs and are really excited about all the different camps and clinics we are able to offer this year.
Advanced camps taught by Shelly Phillips and Kerry Davids. Shelly has been teaching English and Western riding for the past 10 years and Kerry has 15 years experience in English discipline, specializing in 3-day Eventing. Beginner to Intermediate camps taught by Grace Shultz and Nikki VanWyke. Nikki has a degree in Special Education and 10 years riding/training experience. Trail clinics will be offered throughout the summer and taught by natural horsemanship clinician Jeri Flint. High Country Stables is located just 15 minutes from 75 off exit #278.

June 11th Extreme Trail Clinic – 9:00 to 4:00 – $100.00 per rider. Bring a sack lunch.

June 13th to 17th – 7 years old and up – Beginner to Intermediate Camp – English or Western Riding – 9:00 to 3:00 – $325.00 for the week! Limit 10 Riders

June 20th to 24th – Evening Camp – 7 years old and up – Beginner to Advanced Camp – English Riding, with one night of Western – 6:00 to 9:00 – $250.00 for the week. Limited to 8 riders

June 27th to July 2nd – 5 to 7 years old – 9:00 to 1:00 – $250 for the week. Limit 8 riders

June 9th and 10th Jumping Clinic – 9:00 to 4:00. Limit to 10 riders – Beginner to Advanced.

July 11th to 15th – 7 years old and up – Beginner to Intermediate Camp – English or Western Riding – 9:00 to 3:00 – $325.00 for the week! Limit 10 Riders

July 18th to 22nd – Evening Camp – 7 years old and up – Beginner to Advanced Camp – English Riding, with one night of Western – 6:00 to 9:00 – $250.00 for the week. Limited to 8 riders

July 25th to 29th – 10 and up – Advanced Camp(must be able to tack up horse and walk, trot and canter) – English with Jumping and Dressage. Western Riding – Pleasure, Barrel or Reining! – 9:00 to 4:00 – $350.00 for the week. Limit 10 Riders

June 10th and July 8th Fun Days! 9:00 to 3:00 – $50.00– Ages 7 and up. Limit 15

April 4th to 8th – 9:00 to 1:00 – ages 7 and up, English or Western! $250.00 for the week or I have been asked by several parents if kids could come just two or three days instead of all week, so, yes – $60.00 a day!

Friday the camp is limited to 8 riders!
Monday - Riding in the ring working with obstacles.
Tuesday - Trail Ride
Wednesday – Vaulting
Thursday – riding in the ring with ground poles and jumping(depending on skill level)!
Friday – Games on Horses

Today is session Two of “Road to a better horse”. One of the exercises is desensitizing to scary objects. I love this one! Bring out the feed bags, tarps, tires and big rolling balls!

Please note, because Paulding and Cobb Counties are not having their winter break there is no Feb. Fun Day!

March 5th 12:00 to 3:00- mark your calendars! The HCS 2011 Show Riders are having an Open House to help raise money for Equestrian Events throughout the year! $5.00 at the door buys you pony rides, face painting, games and lots of fun! We will have refreshments and food and all donations are welcome!
