I hope everyone had a great holiday season! We sure did! Many thanks for all my wonderful Christmas presents. I think everyone wants me fat! We still have cookies and candies on our kitchen counter.

The barn is full and our lesson program is awesome. We have 18 students signed up for RIFNA and hopefully all will be qualified for Regionals this Spring. Our next meet is January 28th & 29th at In Your Dreams Farm. We will host a meet February 28th.

January 16th we have our first Fun Day of the year! 9:00 to 3:00 – $45.00 for lesson students and $55.00 for non-lesson students.

Our Drill Team is picking back up and hopefully, when we have a Spring Fundraiser we will be able to perform. Very excited about this.

We spent the weekend in NC at my parents. Took them a cord of wood and brought home 25 Frasier Fir trees! Let me know if you haven’t gotten your Christmas Tree. We still have a few left!

December 2nd is our annual Christmas party. We are spending the week decorating the farm if all this rain doesn’t wash us away. But you should see the grass. We fertilized, seeded and limed the 1st of October and now everything is so green – early Christmas present to all the horses!

December 27th – Boxing Day – we are having the last Fun Day of the year!

We were sad to say good-bye to Kiwi! She went home to her owners. I know Sara was happy to have her back and ready to start riding her again.

We want to welcome Sugar and Busta to the farm. Sugar is a rescued Mustang who needs lots of love and carrots. Busta has come down from Ohio. He is an Arab who has shown dressage in the past and a very sweet boy! Snickers will be arriving at the end of the month. He is going to take Sherle to State in the running events!! Go, Sherle!!

HCS has a new horse – Chance! He is too cute, goes English or Western and we are excited to add him to our lesson program.

Our RIFNA team is up and running! We will have our first meet in December over the holidays.

October 29th was the last PCSC show of the season. So, proud of Emily and Rosie – it was Rosie’s first show – and they did awesome!

All the HCS riders did a great job showing this season. The PCSC Awards Banquet is coming up and we can’t wait to see all the awards and trophies the girls will be bringing home.

What were you doing at 12 years old?

Today – in 2011 – paws4people™ has over 175 dogs who are certified and working or in their training program throughout nine Mid- Eastern states. paws4people™ specializes in placing dogs with children and adolescents, active duty soldiers and veterans with physiological, psychological, physical, emotional and other challenges. The difference a dog makes in these people’s life is profound.

Dogs are trained in federal prisons by female inmates in another program started and run by Kyria – paws4prisons™. In this way, our programs are allowing these ladies an opportunity to give back to society while caring for a dog 24/7/365. Again, the affect is profound.

More than 150 people volunteer with the program. We use dogs to teach kids to read, help kids to walk, visitations at senior homes and so much more.

So, glad the weather is finally cooling and we are able to get in lots of ride time! Which is a good thing considering all the Fall horse shows we have coming up! September 17th we will be at Wild Horse Park in Powder Springs. October 8th we will be at Bartow Saddle Club in Cartersville for the start of the 2012 State season. October 29th we are back at Wild Horse Park for our annual charity show and November 12th we are back to Bartow! Wish us luck!

We were sad to see Jeri, Rascal and Mexico leave. Jeri has bought her own farm in Blue Ridge. If you know anyone in that area looking for natural horsemanship training, Jeri is taking on new clients!!

Willie has gone into semi-retirement, helping Keri at her farm with all the beginner riders! We will miss him terribly but at least he is close enough for us to visit whenever we want!

Rosie is fit and sleak and ready for her first show this weekend!

Cowgirl, our newest addition, is also heading to the show. She is a three year old Hancock bred blue roan and absolutely the cutest thing ever!! She is also Shelly’s reining horse!

Fall is a great time to go for a trail ride. If you have never been on a horse this is a great way to experience your first ride. Help us tack up the horse, do a short lesson in the ring and finish up with a trail ride around our 2 acre lake and drive. $45.00 a person!

Kylie was crowned NWGHA Queen at the final State Qualifying Show. She will represent North West Georgia’s Horseman’s Association in Perry, Ga over Labor Day weekend. What an awesome accomplishment! She also qualified in Halter, Western Pleasure and Horsemanship. Emily qualified in English Pleasure and English Equitation. Shelly qualified in Reining and Halter. Dustin qualified on Preacher in Poles and Cones alternate! Very proud of all our riders.

Advanced camps taught by Shelly Phillips and Kerry Davids. Shelly has been teaching English and Western riding for the past 10 years and Kerry has 15 years experience in English discipline, specializing in 3-day Eventing. Beginner to Intermediate camps taught by Grace Shultz and Nikki VanWyke. Nikki has a degree in Special Education and 10 years riding/training experience. Trail clinics will be offered throughout the summer and taught by natural horsemanship clinician Jeri Flint. High Country Stables is located just 15 minutes from 75 off exit #278.

June 11th Extreme Trail Clinic – 9:00 to 4:00 – $100.00 per rider. Bring a sack lunch.

June 13th to 17th – 7 years old and up – Beginner to Intermediate Camp – English or Western Riding – 9:00 to 3:00 – $325.00 for the week! Limit 10 Riders

June 20th to 24th – Evening Camp – 7 years old and up – Beginner to Advanced Camp – English Riding, with one night of Western – 6:00 to 9:00 – $250.00 for the week. Limited to 8 riders

June 27th to July 2nd – 5 to 7 years old – 9:00 to 1:00 – $250 for the week. Limit 8 riders

June 9th and 10th Jumping Clinic – 9:00 to 4:00. Limit to 10 riders – Beginner to Advanced.

July 11th to 15th – 7 years old and up – Beginner to Intermediate Camp – English or Western Riding – 9:00 to 3:00 – $325.00 for the week! Limit 10 Riders
