Preacher says… One of the things I like best about the barn is that it was built with the trees from my pasture! After Miami and Shelly cleared the land, they had a really nice man, Mr. Malcom, bring his portable sawmill and milled the wood. All the lockers in the tack room are made from the pine trees on our land. I know, I was in there one night. I snuck out of my stall, sniffed out the feed bins and noticed the lockers while I was helping myself to lots of grain! I didn’t feel very good the next day! The wash rack is also a big favorite of mine – there is hot and cold running water for my shower! The stalls are made from the felled trees. There are twelve stalls (yes, I can count), 12X12 with windows and social fronts. We have a board fenced 60×150 lighted, riding ring 100×200 riding ring with jump and barrels, round pen and a few trails. And the most important part – feeding! We eat a 11% high grade feed with high quality fescue hay. Full board – We are fed grain and hay twice a day and turned out (weather permitting) with a small group in fenced pasture or privately in a paddock. The lady next to me pays $425.00 a month for full board if she pays before the 1st of the month. If she pays after the 1st she pays $460.00. I get my stall for free because I own the place! Partial Board – You provide the grain, clean your stall, feed in the pm and either take your horse in or out. We feed in the am, provide hay and will turn out weather permitting. If you pay by the first it is $300.00. After the first $335.00. Shelly trains horses (not me because I’m perfect) and full board with training is only $700.00. We currently have one stall open for full board and one stall open for training. Farm shown by appointment ONLY. |
I have been boarding my Tennessee Walking Horse, Midnight, at High Country Stables for more than 5 years. Having been a horse owner for over a dozen years, and having boarded at many barns, I can state that Midnight has never gotten better care or treatment than he has from Shelly Phillips and her crew at High Country Stables. I live in the City of Atlanta, some 40 miles from High Country Stables and am very comfortable knowing that Shelly watches and cares for Midnight as if he were her own. Not only that, Shelly has used Midnight as a lesson and show horse, and over the past 4 years, he has won more than 75 ribbons and Shelly has coached Midnight and his young riders to qualify for the Sate Show for three years running. I recommend Shelly Phillips and High Country Stables to anyone seeking a family-oriented, caring place to board or train your horse. Mike Ventura Atlanta, Ga
